Showcase your abilities in the 2026 Knife competition.
Awarded to the knife that exemplifies the highest level of craftsmanship, design, and execution at the show. This piece stands out above all others for its overall excellence, attention to detail, fit and finish, and the skill demonstrated by the maker.
This award recognizes the knife best suited for everyday use. Judged on practicality, ergonomics, durability, and thoughtful design, this knife excels as a reliable tool meant to be carried and used regularly—not just admired.
Awarded to the knife that demonstrates exceptional mastery of Damascus steel craftsmanship. This category recognizes superior pattern development, billet manipulation, contrast, and etching execution. Judges will evaluate complexity of the pattern, precision in forging, symmetry, performance integrity, and how effectively the Damascus enhances the overall aesthetic and function of the knife. The winner exemplifies both technical forging skill and artistic steel expression. (Winning blade will default to hand forged Damascus over stock removal. Subject to Judges considerations).
Presented to the knife that demonstrates superior performance and craftsmanship in the kitchen. Considerations include blade geometry, balance, edge performance, handle comfort, and materials chosen for food preparation. A true blend of form and function for the culinary arts.
Awarded to the most impressive two-handed blade, such as a sword, spear, axe, or large fighting knife. This category honors historical influence, functional design, balance, and execution, whether inspired by tradition or reimagined through modern craftsmanship.
This award honors the finest execution of the classic Bowie knife design. Judges will consider adherence to traditional Bowie characteristics—clip point geometry, guard construction, balance, and overall presence—while also recognizing tasteful innovation. Fit and finish, grind symmetry, handle ergonomics, and functional durability are key criteria. The winning Bowie should command attention while remaining a practical, well-balanced working blade.
Presented to the folding knife that achieves the highest standard of mechanical precision, design cohesion, and craftsmanship. Judges will evaluate lock strength and reliability, detent and deployment action, centering, tolerances, blade grind, and overall build quality. Attention to detail in materials, ergonomics, and finish will be heavily considered. The winner represents excellence in both engineering and artistry within a compact, functional platform.
Awarded to the knife best suited for field use in hunting applications. Judges will assess blade geometry, edge performance potential, handle ergonomics (especially in wet or cold conditions), carry practicality, and durability. Practicality and real-world function are paramount in this category. The winning entry should demonstrate purpose-driven design, balance, and reliability for demanding outdoor use.
