In this 1-day class, you will create glass flowers and botanicals using the same traditional glassmaking techniques of Venetian glass lampworkers. Using a torch and Oceanside soft glass rods you will learn to sculpt glass petals and leaves. Each botanical element will be created on wire that we will then bundle together and wrap to create finished flowers. By the end of class, you will make a breathtaking glass floral bouquet that you can take home with you at the end of class. In this 6-hour class we will cover flameworking basics, color mixing, and creating custom twisty canes. Then we will create a variety of glass petal designs and shapes using glass tools and sculpting techniques. Hopefully this class will inspire you to look at using soft glass on the torch in a brand new way and just be the start of your sculptural glass journey.

What do Mad Plaid, Magic Carpet, Ribbon Riff, and Crazy Quilt have in common? They're all proof that sometimes the most extraordinary fused glass begins with a single strand. Join us for a playful exploration of COE 96 glass stringers and noodles as we discover just how many ways there are to draw, weave, layer, and build with glass. From tartan-inspired grids and quilt-like patchworks to flowing ribbons and tapestry effects, these versatile materials can transform simple lines into intricate patterns rich with color, texture, and movement. Participants will create four fused glass tiles while experimenting with a variety of stringer and noodle applications. Along the way, we'll explore pattern building, color interaction, and creative approaches to transforming humble strands of glass into eye-catching works of art. Whether you're drawn to the orderly charm of Mad Plaid, the flowing patterns of Magic Carpet, the rhythmic movement of Ribbon Riff, or the patchwork-inspired geometry of Crazy Quilt, this workshop celebrates curiosity, experimentation, and the joy of playing with glass. We will show you step-by-step instructions on how to cut glass, pattern preparation, foiling, soldering in order for you to complete your first stained glass panel, which you will take home with you. We offer lots of individual instruction, use of shop tools.

Come create two beautiful stained glass feathers! (time allowing) You can choose from a few different patterns. In this class you will learn how to cut, foil and solder your own stained glass feathers. This class is beginner friendly!

xperience the spontaneity and freedom of glass mosaic—without the mess! Using COE 96 glass, vitrigraph stringers, and colorful pings, participants will spend the day exploring playful approaches to composition, layering, and color. As we experiment with the visual effects of overlapping glass, participants will learn how to drill glass using a grinder, to create a unique 6" x 6" glass mosaic artwork to take home and fire in their kiln. Emphasis will be placed on creative exploration rather than precision, making this an ideal class for beginners and experienced glass artists alike. Discover the joy of working intuitively with colored glass and leave with a one-of-a-kind timepiece that reflects your own artistic style. Kiln firing instructions and remote technical support will also be included.

Curious about Vitrigraph and ready to jump in? This fun, fast-paced half-day class is a great way to get started. We’ll kick things off by pulling vitrigraph so you can see the process in action right away. Two pots will be ready to go—one with organic stringer and one with twistie cane. Each student will try both. Then, you’ll learn about vitrigraph equipment, how it works, and the basics of loading vitrigraph pots so you leave with new skills, hands-on experience, and plenty of inspiration for future projects.
